Foundation Marine Biology Training Internship
This one-month foundation-level marine biology training internship is delivered by Sharklife Field Station in Sodwana Bay, South Africa. It combines short video-based LearnPress lessons with instructor-led in-water and shore-based field training.
Students build foundation skills in field readiness, species recognition, introductory survey methods, and safe field conduct. The programme is designed for early-stage students, recent graduates, divers, and conservation career explorers.
How the internship works
- Video-based LearnPress lessons prepare students for field sessions.
- Workbook tasks support species identification, method understanding, and field reflection.
- Log submissions record observations, methods practised, and learning progress.
- Instructor sign-offs confirm completion of key training checkpoints.
Assessment
Completion is based on LearnPress progress, quizzes, workbook tasks, log submissions, portfolio evidence, and assigned field instructor sign-off.
Quizzes require 80% and may be retaken. The programme uses completion-based assessment rather than formal grading.
